In accordance with the terms outlined in Article 23, Wage Rules, AMFA and Alaska Airlines met to discuss the annual pay scale adjustment on October 4th and 5th, 2007 at the Gold Coast Center in SeaTac, Washington.

Your negotiating committee is disappointed to report that the Company changed their application of the Article 23 commitment for keeping internal parity. All other labor groups on the property maintain an average relative ranking of being the 3rd highest paid among their peers, in the industry, while the AMFA membership slides down to the 4th position. Even the Value Jet, (now Air Tran) technicians rank higher than what Alaska is willing to pay their technicians.

Consequently, the Company has stated they will only meet the 1½% pay raise outlined in the contract, and is not willing to follow the methodology the parties used last year for complying with the Article 23 language that obligates them to review the mechanics relative position “within the Company”.

If you have any questions, please contact your Airline Representative and attend the next monthly membership meeting for a question and answer period.

Sincerely,
Your Contract Representatives
