Dear Members: The first week in February I participated in the NEC conference call and continued work on the Importing Foreign Outsourcing problem in the United States aviation industry talking to sources from the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Immigration and Naturalization Service, as well as anyone else that would listen. I am inching closer to the root of the problem. The second week in February found me in the wonderful city of Houston, Texas for the Joint Advisory Council meeting and National Executive Council meetings. It was great to get together with the Presidents, Airline Representatives, and the other attendees from all the locals. These meetings are always very informative and filled with a wealth of knowledge from my union brothers, who, collectively are working for your well-being and job security in your airline and industry. In the third and fourth weeks of February I participated in the NEC conference calls. I also participated in the SWA Shop/Line Support outsourcing arbitration of the cockpit crew laptop performance computers, worked on getting some bumper stickers, and worked with a vendor in getting shirts for the National Officers, ASAP reps, SWA Outsourcing Liaison, and the local officers if they want them. Part of being a professional union is looking like one. |
