Dear Members: The first week of February the National Executive Council (NEC) held our regular weekly Conference Call. I worked on finalizing preparations for the Joint Advisory Council (JAC) and NEC Meetings that would both be held in Houston, TX the following week. The newly revised FAA Enforcement Handbook and the 2009 AMFA Constitutions have been printed and copies were sent to Houston for the JAC Meeting and to the Locals as well. If you would like your own copies please contact your Local Officers. The second week of February I travelled to HOU to participate in the JAC Meeting with the other National Officers and Officers and Representatives from the AMFA Locals. Later that week the NEC took the opportunity to hold our NEC Meeting. I also worked on finalizing the arrangements to have Officers from the Locals at the National Office for training with the Department of Labor (DOL). The third week of February we invited the Local Secretaries, Treasurers, and Presidents to the National Office for the DOL Training. Aside from being very insightful in regard to the financial requirements, forms and, elections required by the DOL, this meeting was an excellent opportunity for the Local and National Officers to meet face to face and discuss the many aspects of our positions. The last week of February I participated on the weekly NEC Conference Call, and worked on the usual business of reviewing and approving invoices, expense reports, legal bills, replying to emails and phone calls, as well as other administrative tasks. This week we also started the election process for the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) Event Review Committee (ERC) Representatives at all AMFA carriers.
