Dear Members: The first week of January the National Executive Council (NEC) travelled to PHX to attend the Local 32 Local Executive Council (LEC) and Membership Meetings. The NEC also took this opportunity to hold our NEC Meeting. I always enjoy going to the various stations and meeting with the members and Local Officers. The second week of January the NEC held our weekly Conference Call and I worked on the usual administrative tasks and preparations for the Joint Advisory Council (JAC) Meeting to be held in HOU on February 9, 2010. The revised FAA Enforcement Handbook is being printed and the on-line version is available on the Publication and Forms page on the AMFA National Web site at http://www.amfanational.org/ and has been sent to the Locals for posting on their sites as well. As soon as the printed copies are ready, they will be sent to the Locals. I would like to thank Fred Digne our National Safety and Standards Director, Legal Counsel, and all the other people that have put a lot of work into revising the handbook. I hope that you never need it, but if you do, it is an invaluable tool to have. The third week of January the NEC held our weekly Conference Call and I continued working on preparations for the JAC Meeting, arranging training for the Local Secretaries and Treasurers, as well as my usual administrative tasks. The last week of January I participated on the NEC Conference Call, continued preparations for the JAC Meeting, and the Local Secretary and Treasurer training to be held at the National Office. I also started the process of upgrading the system that stores and manages our membership data. We plan to have the system up and operational sometime this summer. I also worked on the usual business of reviewing and approving invoices, expense reports, legal bills, replying to emails and phone calls, as well as other administrative tasks. |
