The AMFA-Alaska Negotiating Committee (the “Committee”) is providing this update to the membership at Alaska Airlines. This is the only official, authorized source of negotiating communications by the Committee.
AMFA Legal and AMFA’s Economist worked diligently this week to finalize certain issues that remained following the parties’ Agreement-in-Concept (AIC) reached on January 11, 2024. Today, your Negotiating Committee met with the Company virtually, via Microsoft Teams, to present proposals on the remaining items, which included:
- A counterproposal to the Company’s proposed retirement me-too language;
- Proposal for an LOA regarding certain one-time issues specific to Maintenance Control Employee’s transition into the CBA;
- Proposal for an LOA regarding the Company’s payment of compensation (applying TA rates) back to October 17, 2023.
The Company asked clarifying questions on AMFA’s proposals during today’s electronic meeting, and the parties agreed to reconvene virtually again on Monday, January 22 to finalize these remaining items. AMFA is optimistic, following Monday’s virtual meeting with the Company, that the parties will be able to finalize a full TA and summary document for your review shortly thereafter.
Given the AIC and the progress made on the remaining items this week, the parties will not be meeting in Seattle next week. Please stay tuned for future updates and reach out to your ALR or Region I Director with any questions.
