Re: Further Postponement of National Convention

In consideration of health, safety, and travel concerns as well as current state restrictions and quarantine mandates for many of our attendees and their families, the National Executive Council (NEC) has voted unanimously to postpone the AMFA National Convention indefinitely until 2/3 of the Local Delegates and Alternates have agreed to attend the National Convention or 50% of the delegation has been vaccinated. The NEC will gauge this 2/3 threshold by conducting a survey of the Delegates and Alternates.

The first scheduled survey will be conducted in January 2021 with the intent to convene the AMFA National Convention in person in Las Vegas in May 2021, which would be one year from the original date prescribed in the AMFA Constitution. At that time, most attendees should have had the opportunity to receive the vaccine if they so choose. Local Secretaries should provide AMFA National a list of current Delegate and Alternates, including personal emails addresses, no later than Wednesday, December 23, 2020, to ensure all applicable are included in the scheduled January 2021 survey.

Participation via electronic means for such a monumental event is a disservice to our Association and membership. In person participation is critical for effective debate, collaboration, and camaraderie aspects of a successful convention. Furthermore, the scope of multiple constitutional amendments intended for this convention deserve this full attention.

Anyone having questions regarding the 2021 AMFA National Convention, should contact me at (720) 744-6632.

On behalf of the NEC,

Jay Johnson
National Secretary/Treasurer
